
The Juraj Dobrila University of Pula successfully combines scientific and educational elements, including many departments and organizational divisions within its organizational structure. The University consists of eight faculties, an Academy, and a single study program, with a total of over 250 faculty members and around 2,800 students. These individuals pursue many academic endeavors, including undergraduate, Master’s, Specialist, and Doctoral programs, as well as lifelong learning alternatives tailored for adult education. The Technical Faculty in Pula and the Faculty of Medicine play a crucial role in expanding research in technology, medicine, and other STEM fields. The technological Faculty aims to educate engineers who are skilled in current technological knowledge and can integrate new technologies with actual industry uses. The curriculum covers fundamental technical, mechanical, and electrical engineering subjects, as well as advanced areas, including computing, electronics, automation, mechatronics, and robotics, guiding the faculty’s focus on research and development in these modern sectors. Despite being recently established, the Faculty of Medicine has achieved notable progress in professional and scientific teaching. The faculty has authored more than 25 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals, engaged in various international projects, and concentrated on innovative research areas such as processing signals from biological systems. They prioritize creating user-friendly virtual instruments for individuals with no background in signal processing. Additive technologies are becoming increasingly important worldwide, transforming the production of functional prototypes across several sectors. Although they offer benefits, obstacles, including size constraints, time consumption, and material expenses, remain. One significant research project at the Technical Faculty focuses on combining robotic modules with FDM 3D printing heads to enhance the 3D manufacturing process. Advancements in production systems are essential for improving machine efficiency and production results. Comprehensive planning is required to guarantee the safety and efficiency of both translational and rotating machine components. The study focuses on developing techniques and software for continuously monitoring physical dangers in industrial processes to ensure workplace safety and compliance with human-friendly requirements. UNIPU’s vast experience in several international scientific initiatives and programs, such as Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, Ceepus Program, and EURAXESS, demonstrates its dedication to quality and innovation. The University’s significant contributions to global scientific research are highlighted by projects like the study on the effects of PMA zeolite on bone metabolism and its potential as a therapeutic agent for treating periodontitis and oral lichen planus, as well as the Cancer Screen project.
