BIOMEDIX Multiplier Event – “Digital Transformation in Biomedical Engineering” at Technical University of Cluj-Napoca – October 9th, 2026
On 9 October 2026, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN) hosted the second BIOMEDIX Multiplier Event, entitled “Digital Transformation in Biomedical Engineering.” The event brought together over 300 participants from Romania and abroad, including researchers, students, healthcare professionals, engineers, and industry representatives, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and international collaboration in biomedical engineering.
The programme showcased the results of five BIOMEDIX case studies, highlighting innovative applications of 3D printing, bioprinting, and digital technologies in medicine. These included personalized cranial implants, scaffolds for tissue regeneration, hydrogel-based breast implants, and anatomical models for treatment planning. Experts from partner universities and industry representatives, including Materialise, viscoTec, and REGEMAT 3D, also presented developments in biomaterials, medical robotics, and digital medical device design.
A major highlight was the technological exhibition, where participating companies demonstrated advanced 3D printing equipment, bioprinting technologies, biomedical materials, software solutions, and virtual reality applications. Participants had the opportunity to interact directly with industry specialists, explore innovative medical technologies, and discuss potential collaborations.
The event was a great success, attracting over 300 participants and strengthening cooperation between universities, healthcare institutions, and industry. It also opened new opportunities for student projects, international mobility, and future educational initiatives, including discussions on developing a joint Erasmus Mundus master’s programme focused on digital transformation in biomedical engineering.
